课程简介:
A. Description
Thiscourse focuses on the structure, function, control, and adaptation of skeletalmuscles that are commonly used in the field of sport/exercise and health sciences.Emphases will be on the applications of muscle mechanics presented in the classto real-world research projects. The course assumes that the students havetaken some entry-level anatomy, physiology and biomechanics classes.
B. Organization
It isprimarily a lecture course in which topics are presented by the instructor.Basic concepts and methodologies are first described in sufficient detail. Thisis followed by presenting and discussing real-word examples of applications.In-class participation is strongly encouraged.
C. Course Objectives
· Tointroduce students to the basic concepts, methods, and researchprotocols when applying the basic muscle mechanics principles to biomechanicsresearch.
· Toprovide students with opportunities to be familiar with studydesign and muscle mechanics principles that are commonly used in the field.
· To train students the ability to read, present, and integratemuscle mechanics in the results section of a research paper
D. Course Topics
The 2-daycourse will cover the following topics.
Day 1
Morning session: 9:00am-12:00pm
Introductionto skeletal muscle
• Skeletal Muscle
• Muscle Tissue Properties
• Function of Muscle
• Skeletal Muscle Structure
• Force Generation of Muscle
Afternoon session: 1:00-4:00pm

• Injury to Skeletal Muscle
Day 2
Morning session: 9:00am-12:00pm
Neuralcontrol of skeletal muscles
• General Organization of the Nervous System
• Motorneurons
• Sensory Receptors and Reflexes
Afternoon session: 1:00-4:00pm
Electromyographyand application of muscle mechanics
• Introduction of Electromyography
• Using EMG to study muscle mechanics
• Adaptation to training and exercise
E. Course Material
• Teaching through prepared PowerPoint presentations and reading material
F. Course Grading
Thecourse will be weighted as follows:
· Take-Homeexam - 30% it will be handed out during the last day of theclass. It’s due 7 days after the last class
· active class participation – 10%
· class attendance - 60% (missing class – 15%, tardy or earlywithdraw 5% every ten minutes)

李立 教授 简介:Dr. Li isa research professor at Georgia Southern University. His research experiencesinclude neuromuscular control of human movement, movement deficits andadaptation among people with peripheral neuropathy, cycling mechanics, posturalcontrol, walk-to-run gait transition, the application of dynamics systems approachto human movement, and the effects of aging on the motor control capacity ofthe elderly population.
